I've just bought my first Chambers

Hello everyone- firstly, this is a lovely site, and I can look forward to a great del of interest in looking it over.
That being said, I've just bought my first Chambers stove on eBay, and wanted to know if anyone had any advice for me, or thoughts on it. I think it is a model B, but I'm new to these things. I don't know yet if it has the thermowells or any other parts missing, I pretty much just bought it on sight alone and figured I'd fix up whatever needed fixing after I got it. I'll be picking it up in a few days, any comments or thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks for the responses. I'm unsure yet whether I'm going to just fix the minor problems or if I'm going to do the whole thing. I get the feeling that its the sort of thing that one thinks will be a small problem and the next thing you know, you get sucked in for months and months of work. Which would be fine.
I recently moved into an apartment in Queens, NY and found, to my horror, that the landlord had decided to "renovate" just before I got there. This just means that he took out all the old parts, threw them away, and replaced them with brand new **** . I just got a 1948 Fridgidaire, and I'm replacing my dinky little stainless steel sink in the kitchen with a monster old porcelain and cast iron `double sink that I found in the garbage. The Chambers (still unnamed) will certainly be the centerpiece.

Congrats on the B beauty and the vintage fridge too ! My Chambers Model C sits across from a 1955 Hotpoint in FABU condition. You'll love the Chambers, you'll love this forum !

Welcome to the site and congratulations on your model B. It looks like it's in pretty good condition. By the way, you live in my neck of the woods. I'm in Bayside, where are you? I've got a great chambers stove mechanic in my area, he can hook it up for you and make sure everything is in working order. Let me know if you want his contact info. He maintains the stove that Rachael Ray uses on thirty minute meals.

Welcome, Ammon!! You are now the proud owner of a beautiful Model B !! Congratulations, and welcome to the "B Club" (I'm a B too). The listing said that the lights need to be rewired - that is a very small thing - I bought some parts at Lowe's and did mine myself. Do you intend to restore yours completely, or just enough to be functional, or ??

Treatmaker - Thanks for the offer, I'd love his contact information. I'm in Astoria, just escaped here from Brooklyn about five months ago. I'm really not sure how much needs to be done, and how much of it I'll feel like doing myself. But it can't hurt to have access to a real professional. I've always done most of my apartment and renovation work on my own, but I'm sure I'll run into things with my Chambers that I could use some expertise on.

The manuals which are offered by several people here are incredibly helpful, they'll become your Chambers "bible" of how to do whatever you need to do. Along with the hands on advice offered by the genuine restorers here, they've done amazing things to their stoves !!!....you'll find you have all the information you'll ever need. How about posting some pics of the fridge on our yahoo site ???
